Iowa receiver Matt VandeBerg out indefinitely with injury

IOWA CITY, Iowa – Iowa head football coach Kirk Ferentz announced Tuesday that senior wide receiver Matt VandeBerg is out of action indefinitely, due to injury.

The 6-foot-1, 190-pound VandeBerg suffered a foot injury during practice on Monday. He is a native of Brandon, South Dakota, where he attended Brandon Valley High School. VandeBerg has played in all four games this season, leading the team in receptions, receiving yards, and receiving touchdowns (19-284-3 TDs).

Harty: My Big Ten power rankings for football

IOWA CITY, Iowa – My Big Ten football power rankings as of Monday.

You’ll have to scroll down a ways to find Iowa.

1. Ohio State (3-0) – The star-studded Buckeyes still have a slight edge over Wisconsin and over several teams in the NFL.

2. Wisconsin (4-0) – Barry Alvarez is so impressed with Wisconsin’s 30-6 victory at Michigan State on Saturday that he gives head coach Paul Chryst permission to make some minor game-related decisions on his own.

3. Michigan (4-0) – The Wolverines treated Penn State much more harshly this past Saturday than the NCAA did in the wake of the Jerry Sandusky child rape scandal.

AH podcast: Don Paterson breaks down the Rutgers victory

IOWA CITY, Iowa – This podcast features former Iowa offensive coordinator and Western Illinois head coach Don Patterson breaking down Saturday’s 14-7 win at Rutgers.

Patterson appears each Monday to look at the previous game and ahead to the next game, which for Iowa is a homecoming showdown with Northwestern this coming Saturday at Kinnick Stadium.

Patterson saw both good and bad with Iowa’s performance against Rutgers. He shares his thoughts during a 15-minute interview in the first half of the podcast. One of his biggest concerns is the Iowa receivers struggling to get separation.
