Barrington Wade listed as one of Iowa's three starting linebackers for the Minnesota game

IOWA CITY, Iowa - Iowa linebacker Barrington Wade has played played almost exclusively on special teams this season, but that is likely to change against Minnesota on Saturday.

Wade is listed as the starter on Iowa's depth chart at outside linebacker. The third-year sophomore from Skokie, Ill., replaces fellow sophomore Nick Niemann, who injured his leg on the final play of the Wisconsin game on Oct. 22 and is expected to be out for a couple of weeks, according to Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz.

In another change at linebacker, redshirt freshman Djimon Colbert is now listed as the starter at weakside linebacker ahead of junior Kristian Welch.

Welch started against Wisconsin and had seven tackles in the first half at weakside linebacker, but was pulled in favor of Colbert for the second half. Welch is listed as the backup at both weakside and outside.

On the offensive line, fifth-year senior Dalton Ferguson is listed as the starting right guard, with Cole Banwart his backup. Banwart started Iowa’s first two games but missed its third game against Northern Iowa due to an injury.

Ferguson, a former walk-on from Solon, started against both Northern Iowa and Wisconsin.

Senior Jack Hockaday is listed as the starter at middle linebacker where he has started the previous three games.

Junior Amani Jones started at middle linebacker in the season opener against Northern Illinois, but was replaced in favor of Hockaday in the first quarter.
