IOWA CITY, Iowa - Former Iowa basketball player Matt Gatens was our guest on Wednesday.
Gatens was recently hired as the director of basketball operations at Drake. He spent last season as a graduate assistant at Auburn under former Iowa assistant Bruce Pearl.
Gatens spoke about what it was like to be back working in his home state and the struggles of his alma mater last season.
Gatens, a graduate of Iowa City High, was a four-year starter at Iowa from 2008-12 and his 1,635 career points rank sixth on Iowa's all-time list.
As a senior in high school, Gatens was named Mr. Basketball and Gatorade Player of the Year while leading his team to a state title in 2008.
