IOWA CITY, Iowa – Nearly half of the uncommitted recruits that visited Iowa over the weekend have given verbal commitments to the Hawkeyes.

One of those still deciding is three-star athlete Diante Vines.

Vines, a native of Watertown, Conn., came away impressed by the family atmosphere at Iowa.

“All of the recruits, player hosts, parents and coaches went to (head coach Kirk Ferentz’s) house for a pool party and to play yard games,” Vines said. “It was a fun time and you don’t usually see a head coach invite that many people to his house. It showed me the family aspect that they speak about.”

The 6-foot-1, 187-pound Vines now has Iowa near the top of his list of 14 scholarship offers.

“(It is) definitely high because it was a different type of feeling with everyone there,” Vines said.

Vines said he is also favoring Syracuse and Boston College and is planning on deciding between the three schools sometime in July.

Vines is listed as an athlete on but said that Iowa is recruiting him as a receiver.

Largo, Fla. native Quavon Matthews is currently the only receiver committed to Iowa’s 2020 recruiting class.

Iowa currently has 19 players committed to its 2020 class.
